In January 2007,
Chevron began it's first phase of monetary donations to the
Vermilion Parish Schools. LCD projectors were purchased and
placed in every classroom in the parish to assist teachers
with a multitude of lessons. Once connected to a CPU,
internet lessons are available and can be viewed class-wide
with the projected image. Available computer software
also helps in the quest to guide teachers and students
through effective teaching.
IV/Vermilion Parish database has been in the works since
2005 to help teachers locate effective resources
online. Another resource site,
filled with graphic organizers and other helpful teaching Power Points,
was created in the Summer of 2007. It was specifically
geared toward the implementation of incoming projectors.
Both sites are geared toward assisting
educators with locating productive links which correlate with the
Louisiana Comprehensive Curriculum.
Teachers can use
internet-ready services through
Cyber Channel (formerly United Streaming) and other
State/Parish services such as
EBSCO. A wide variety of other resources are being used
daily with the new projectors in place.
