Vermilion Parish Elementary
Teacher of the Year
Stacy Broussard

Stacy Broussard is a third grade teacher at Dozier Elementary in Erath. She has taught for 13 years in the Vermilion Parish School System, with nine years of experience at Dozier.  She feels teachers are the foundation for all other careers. Her principal, Liz Gremillion characterizes her as an “excellent teacher" whose zest for teaching radiates enthusiasm and joy for learning. She is a positive influence on the faculty.”

Stacy Broussard is willing to share her wealth of knowledge with her peers through district staff development sessions and monthly study group sessions.

Broussard feels elementary teachers lay the foundation for future academic growth and stated, “As teachers we need to encourage students to pursue their dreams and build upon their strengths. It is our job to fill the gaps when students enter our classrooms.”

She also feels teachers must address individual learning styles. She tries to present the material in a variety of ways by using  peer tutors, listening centers, interactive games and activities, hands on manipulatives and a variety of technology resources and tools.

As  a quality educator, Broussard recently stated,  "I may not change the world, but I can make a world of change in the life of a child."
