The "Fake" Microsoft E-Mail critical update message that contains a virus is once again propagating. DO NOT OPEN ATTACHMENTS. Microsoft Corporation does not mail updates to users.
Please Note: Executable files and files with extensions common to viruses will be blocked and not delivered by our email scanner! Warnings will also not be sent to sender! The email and attachment will simply be deleted!
In these days of viruses, please do not send attachments unless you inform the person that you are sending it and it is a necessary file for education purposes.
Please keep informed of virus prevention strategies to help us end the spread of viruses.
Never click on an attachment to see what it is! If you are not expecting the attachment, it is probably a virus.
Most people will get viruses sent to them through email at some point. Most are taken care of by simply deleting the email. Normally to get INFECTED you simply click the attachment ... so don't!
Make sure you are logging into the network to get the latest AVG updates.
Make sure that you have all the critical updates for Windows.
Viruses can appear to come from people you know, so don't open those attachments unless you are absolutely sure the person is sending you an attachment.
There are also SPAM email messages asking for credit card information ... PLEASE, for your own sake, don't trust anything asking about personal or financial information!

CAUTION: HAPPY99 Virus has infected numerous computers in Vermilion Parish. Do not run the HAPPY99.exe file if you get it. If you get it, delete the email and attachment and clear your trash and recycle bin. Your computer can be cleaned by using the Happy99Clean.exe (for Win 98) or Happy99Cleaner.exe (for Win 95). In the spring of 2000, a modified version of the Happy99 virus was put out onto the web which cannot be cleaned by the above programs. For more info on Happy99, see the following site: http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/happy99.worm.html
