Mrs. Lori Porter's 4th Grade Class Letters to Students in 2060

Dear Student of 2060,

I am Alexis Nicole. I am 9 years old. I go to Dozier Elementary School in Erath, LA. My favorite subject in school is science. My parents are Julie and Jesse. My teachers are Mrs. Lori Porter and Mrs. Kay Lurry. I have a little sister named Kennedi Jeanne. She is 7 years old. My cat`s name is Jasper. My birthday is April 18, 2000. I am writing this letter to you to put in time capsule.

I am writing about technology and prices today. The prices of things today can be very high. I have a camper and it cost over $20,000!  The cost of gas is around $2.59. You are lucky you live in the future because you probably have robots that do anything you say for about $59.99.

Our world has many things going on today. Our president, Barack Obama, is the first African American to be president. There is a war going on in Iraq and Afghanistan. Another thing we like to talk about is Michael Jackson, a famous singer, just died. The Saints are undefeated, 13 wins and 0 losses.

I am used to wearing a school uniform. There are some things kids wear on their weekends. Kids like to wear blue jeans and a regular T-shirt. I don`t like to dress clothes on weekends because on those days you can wear whatever you want to wear. I only wear dress clothes on Sundays because I go to church.

I like modern times today. I wonder what the future will be like in 2060. I will be 60 when you read this letter. It is around Christmas and I want many things. There will probably want or need many more things in the future. There are lots of freaky things in modern times like silly paddy, a kind of gooey material. In the future there would be many more things waiting for me. I hope I am here to read my letter to you. And who knows my grandchild could be reading my letter.

Your friend,

Alexis

Dear Student of 2060,

My name is Braden. I'm 9 years old. Iím in fourth grade. My teachers are nice. Their names are Ms. Porter and Ms. Kay. This is a time capsule. It is when you bury a sheet of paper.

I think that you will have a lot of new of inventions. You will probably have a flying skateboard in 2060. You will also probably have flying cars or tools that work themselves. A car that is like water when it gets hit it goes back to a normal car.

I think that you will have cool projects. You will probably have a piece of paper that could turn itself blank. I think you even a watch that will make you turn into an alien. I think you will have a projector that projects real stuff out of it. When you turn it on the people will jump out of it.

I have a lot of questions. Do you have new inventions? I think you will in the future. I have one more question. Do you have flying skateboards? I told you about what may happen in the 2060 and I hope I get to meet you.

Your friend,

Braden

Dear Student of 2060,

My name is Britney. I am nine years old.  I am about to turn ten years old. I hope I get to meet you. I go to school at Dozier Elementary.

The prices today are getting very high. Gas today is $2.47. The price of a pack of candy is $1.00. It cost over $10.00 to eat out. If you eat out for a whole week it would be over $50.00. Our life is very expensive.

In our life we have a lot of events. We have I Phones. We have the first African American President. Also we had the death of Michael Jackson. The Saints are 13 and 0. We have computers today.

I hope your life gets better than ours is. I am sure you will not know who Michael Jackson is and the Saints. When you read this I will be 60 years old. I might be dead, but I hope I get to meet you.

Dear Student of 2060,

My name is Caleb.  I am writing this for a time capsule. I am 10 years old. I was born in 1999. It is the year 2009. I was born in LA. My parentsí names are Kerry and Alvin.

These are some things that are popular like New Moon and Lets Do This. And we wear T/shirt and jeans.

I think we will have flying cars they will run on bubbles instead of gas so we wonít pollute the air. There will be bubbles instead of cars for transportation.

The electronics that we will have are robots and robot butlers. We will have touch screen computers. We will also have robot pets such as robot dogs, cats, and birds.

This paragraph will be about foods. Some foods will be green witch and applesauce hash. This paragraph will be about prices. The prices of stores will be 10 dollars. And the prices of boats will be $8.00. And the prices of restaurants will be 10 dollars each. All of our books will be 10 cents each.  This is what I think will happen in the future and how it will change in the year 2060.

Dear Student of 2060,

My name is Gabrielle. Iím in fourth grade. I go to school at Dozier Elementary. I am 9 years old. Iím writing this for a time capsule. I live in Erath, LA. You will think that in 2009 it is very different than in 2060.You will hear about 2009, my modern time. This is about me.

I am writing about prices in 2009. House prices are about $50,000 (for some houses.) Candy at a concession stand is 50 cents or $1.00.We have a concession stand at our school. A used car is $5,500. Gas cost $2.50 a gallon.

I will tell you about what is happening in 2009, now. Something that happened recently was Michel Jacksonís death. He was a famous singer. Barak Obama is our president. He is the first African American president. A popular song is ďparty in the USA.Ē It was written by Miley Cyrus. The Saints are undefeated. They are the New Orleans football players. Twilight is a popular movie. Life today is not the same as in your modern time. We have cars, planes, and boats for transportation. You might still use them but what Iím saying is life will be different in 2009 than in 2060.

This is how modern life is today in 2009.those are prices and events that have happened. I am glad Iíve gotten to share this with you.

                                                                                                                             Sincerely,

Gaberielle

Dear Student of 2060.

My name is Kennedy Breaux. I am 9 years old. I go to Dozier Elementary. I am doing this because we are making a time capsule.

I will be predicting about the future. I think they will have flying cars. I also think they will have new street fair rides. The rides will have will be like mini space ship rides.

Maybe we can live on Mars. That would be cool! We could have vacations on the moon. On the moon we could rent flying scooters. Space suits would allow us to bring our pets on the moon too.

In the year 2060 I will be 60 years old. I will see a lot of changes in this world. One change I want to see is cures for many diseases. I hope this world is still a good place to live in when you read my letter. What do you think the world will be like in 50 years from 2060.

Dear Students of 2060,

Hi, my name is Shea. I am nine years old. I am in the fourth grade. My schools name is Dozier Elementary. I am writing a letter for a student in the future of 2060. My parents

are Kane and Sara.

Today the prices are not that cheap. A pack of gum cost $1.00. A truck would cost $15,000.You could buy three pizzaís for around $5.00.It does not cost that much money for groceries but some people grow their own food. Like farmers have cattle for milk and beef. Some people like to hunt their food and clean it themselves.

Some movies that are popular are Twilight, Harry Potter, 2012, This is it. We sometimes have 3-D but most are 2-D. Things are changing in America. One thing is we have the first African American President. His name is Barak Obama. Some new inventions are the Ripstick and the Solar power car. That is what America is like today.

I told you about me, prices, and popular movies. I will be 60 in 2060.I hope I will still be alive at the time you read this letter.

Dear Students of 2060,

Iím Taylor Christine and Iím 9 years old. I go to Dozier Elementary School. My favorite place is school. My favorite subjects are Math and Writing. My best friends are Alexis and Madison. I love my friends and family. Iím in 4th grade. I am writing this letter to tell you what we have, how they work, and how much they are.

We have computers, phones, and TVs. Computers are like, if you need something, you can go on the Internet Explorer. Phones can let you talk to other people without going to their house. TVs let you watch things like the news. I love all these things because they work awesome. I have all these things around my house. My mom, my sister, and I have a phone.

You may not have these things in 2060. All these things may just shut off on you. My computer shut off on me when I was doing something important. If it shuts off on you, it may not be off.

I hope you liked my letter. I tried to explain everything my best. I hope you can understand my handwriting. Well, I have to go now. Bye.

Your friend,

Taylor

Dear student of 2060,

First Iíll tell you about me.  My name is Tucker.  I live in Delcambre, Louisiana.  I have one dog, love to hunt and fish, like to play sports, and would like to be a professional baseball player or a vet when I grow up.  I am in fourth grade.  I go to school at Dozier Elementary.  My teachersí names are Mrs. Lori Porter and Mrs. Kay Lurry.  I wrote this letter because my school is burying a time capsule.

Now Iíll tell you how things are now in 2009.  Michael Jackson has just died.  Michael Jackson was a famous singer and invented freestyle dancing.  The Saints have not lost a game this year.  The Saints are a professional football team.  The New York Yankees won the World Series.  The New York Yankees are a professional baseball team.  Right now Barack Obama is the president of the United States of America.  Obama has made history by being the first African American president of the United States of America.  Bobby Jindal is the governor of Louisiana.

Right now prices of probably everything are very high.  Gas is $2.61 a gallon.  At school we can buy treats.  All of the treats cost $0.50.  A gallon of milk cost $3.69.  A 24 pack of water cost $2.30.  A 12 pack of soda cost $3.48.

We do a lot of things for fun.  Many kids like to hunt and fish.  A lot of kids also like to play video games like playstation 1, 2, and 3, wii, playstation portable, game boys, Nintendo DS, and Xbox 360.  We also like to play board games like monopoly, mouse trap, candy land, checkers, and chess.  We like to play sports like baseball, football, basketball, soccer, and kickball.  We also like to play pool, air hockey, and ping pong.

We have some pretty cool stuff right now.  We have cell phones.  We have computers.  We also have four wheelers, dirt bikes, golf carts, marsh buggies, crotch rockets, cars, trucks, bicycles, and three-wheelers.  We have skate boards, ripsticks, and scooters.  We also have night vision goggles and night vision binoculars.  We have DVD players and portable DVD players.  We have ipods, radios, and CD players.  We also have remote control cars, trucks, boats, dirt bikes, four wheelers, and helicopters.

Almost forgot to tell you about some other games we play.  We like to play tag, freeze tag, cartoon freeze tag, and hide and seek.  We like to have relay races, short and long distance races, and bike races.

This is the last thing I have to tell you.  Right now we have some very high prices.  We do many things for entertainment and have some pretty cool things right now.  I hope the world is as good of a place for you as it is for me.

                                                                                                Sincerely your friend,

My name is Alexis. I am in fourth grade and I am nine years old. My parents are Ashley and Quinitin. I have one sister and two brothers. Their names are Alyssa, Quitintin and Quincy. We go to school at Dozier Elementary. I am writing this because it will be put in a time capsule and fifty years later you will get this letter.

In the future I think they will have different transportation. I think there will be flying cars. Instead Of cars for old people they can just sit back in there chair if they need to go some were they just fly. I will be watching the news the news for all of it. I wish I could live during the future. It would be fun.

Technology over the last twenty years has changed greatly. So imagine how life will be in the next fifty years.  Most likely there will be new scientific discoveries such as robotic butlers and phones to send your messages. Many doctors will keep experimenting trying to find cures for all dieses. Thatís what I predict will be like in the 2060.

I really wish I could live during the future. It would be really cool! I want be in the future. The only reason I want to live in the future is because I want to live during this because I want to see the new inventions in life. I canít wait until the future.

Dear Students of 2060,

I am writing for a project. My name is Caroline. I am in fourth grade. I go to the school Dozier Elementary. I am nine years old. I have an older brother named Ryan. I have two parents named Schuyler and Mark. I have predictions about the future.

I am going to predict what technology will be like. I think there will be fling cars in the future. I wonder if will have robot butlers in 2060. I am thinking there will be more technology like: cars that run on batteries, automatic bikes, phones that donít need to be charged, books that turn pages by themselves and more. I would love to know what technology will be like.

The next subject that I am going to predict about is your school. On the playground, I am guessing that you have automatic swings. In 2060, I think you have robot teachers. In the future, I think that there will be boards that you tell it what to write and it writes for you. I also predict that there will be pencils that never lose their point. I predict that there will be desk where you tell it Ďígo to the lunch roomĒ and it goes. I predict that is what your school will be like.

I think it was fun learning about the future. I canít wait until 2060.  I would love to see what the future will be like, but until then I guess Iíll have to keep predicting.

Sincerely,

Caroline

Dear Student of 2060,

My name is Justin. I am nine years old now. I go to Dozier Elementary school. I am in the fourth grade. My two teachers are Mrs. Kay Lurry and Mrs. Lori Porter.

I am writing a prediction about the future for a school project. I think there will be solar panel cars that will run on solar energy. I also think that people will make talking pens that give people the answers to questions. Maybe someone in the future can make a smart car that can drive by itself. I can also imagine someone making a flying car that can go well over seventy miles an hour. Maybe there might be some robots that would do all of a kid or teenagers homework.

My next prediction is about prices and tax. The price of gum will probably go up to one dollar and fifty cents. Tax goes up every year. So itís probably going to be fifty-eight dollars tax in the year 2060. Maybe the gas will go up to ten dollars a gallon. It probably wouldnít cost as much money to rent a house now.

I hope in the future that most of these things come true. Maybe if they donít come true the world would be not as fun. Some people might need these cool things. I hope in the future to see you and please have a good time growing up.

Your friend,

Justin

You might have flying skateboards. I think you might have robots. Those phones might have peoples name on it.

I predict that you will have in the future. I think youíll have robot dog, cat, fish, sheep, and pigs. I think youíll have rolling airplanes not flying airplanes. Dear Student of 2060,

My name is Trey. I am 10 years old. I go to Dozier Elementary. I am in fourth grade. My teachers are Mr. Lori Porter, and Mrs. Kay Lurry. I am writing this because it is being buried in a time capsule. Our prices are a lot. A bottle of milk cost 4.00. For rice it cost 5.00. For chicken, it will cost 1.00. For a car it cost $12,000.  For a bottle of pop it cost 50. When you buy bread it cost 2.30. When you buy crawfish it cost 5.63 a pound. For gas it cost 2.50. Today we have lawnmowers we push and drive. We have boxcars, and bug cars. Our weed eaters you have to hold them. Our bikes have the

same length of tires. Some bikes have big tires. Our boats you drive in the water, and they have pedals.  Our trucks have big backends. Our electronics are TVís, computers, games you play, and stereos you watch movies in. A computer printer can print papers. And a ver. can even play movies. I told you about what we have today, and our prices we have today. Maybe prices will be different in the future.
