I began teaching because I love
children. I thought teaching was a career where I could be involved with
my daughters at school as well as spending as much time with them at home as
possible. My mother was a librarian and I loved to see her work with
children and develop their appreciation for reading through programs at the
public library. I hope that I can help my students develop a love for
reading which will impact their education and their future.

in education from NLU-now ULM in Monroe, LA

degree in education from NLU majoring in reading education with a minor
in psychology

I have 20 1/2 years teaching
experience (all in 4th grade).

Personal

I
am married to Shawn Lurry. Shawn is a supervisor
with Woodgroup. We have two wonderful daughters: Ginnie and
Brittany. Ginnie is a speech pathologist back home in Catahoula
Parish. She is married to Jimmy Murry and they have one son, Cohen
Thomas. Brittany graduated from UL and will be getting married to Willie
Mire in Nov. We also have
a dog "Briley" who is a 6 year old shih tzu.
Hobbies/Intersts
I enjoy reading, cooking,
scrapbooking, watching LSU football and baseball, and NASCAR.
