Hess and Dozier Elementary Host a Successful Blood Drive

"We Care"

Dozier Elementary and HESS teamed up to sponsor a Blood Drive with Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center on Thursday, September 22nd. The drive took place from 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM on the Dozier Elementary School campus.

The event was dedicated to Ms. Cecile DuBois who was recently diagnosed with leukemia. All donations will help defray hospital medical costs. Ms. DuBois retired in May of 2011, as a Kindergarten teacher with 45 years of teaching experience in Vermilion Parish under her belt.

Principal Karla Toups stated: "The school felt it was time to give back for all of the years of service Ms. Dubois unselfishly gave not only to the Erath students, but to the community as well."

Students who were able to get one parent/adult (aunt, uncle, etc.) to donate blood received a free t-shirt, and will have a chance to participate in an ice cream recess at a later date.

Toups ended by saying that the "Dozier Elementary faculty members, HESS and Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Center workers were extremely pleased and grateful with the outpouring of community members who showed up to donate blood."
