Meet Mrs. Delia Girouard - Kindergarten


  • I graduated in 2004 from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with a Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education, grades 1-8.

  • After graduating, I earned my Early Childhood Certification to teach grades Pre-K/Kindergarten. I then earned my Master of Education in Educational Leadership from McNeese State University in 2010.


  • Literacy training in LETRS, LiPS & Early Literacy, and Dialogic Reading

  • Technology training through INTECH with additional training in the use of a Promethean Board and ActivInspire software

  • Assessment training in DIBELS, TELD-3, iSTEEP, and CLASS PreK certification Special Education training in Autism and Asperger's Strategies and Differentiated Instruction

  • Discipline training in Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS)

  • Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, and Leader in Me Facilitator and Implementation

  •  My family consists of my husband, Craig; our daughter, Caroline,  our son, David, and our dog, Maggie. Together, we enjoy camping, snowboarding, and traveling for vacation. Some of my hobbies include running, scrapbooking, and kickboxing. : I will be participating in my second St. Jude Memphis Marathon weekend in December. 

My Job:

  • My past teaching experience includes 13 years between Eaton Park, James A. Herod, and LeBlanc Elementary.

  •   year at Eaton Park Elementary in Kindergarten/First Grade Reading Intervention

  • 4 Years teaching Kindergarten at James A. Herod Elementary. o   3 Years teaching Inclusion Kindergarten at LeBlanc Elementary

  • 5 Years as the Literacy Integration Specialist at James A. Herod Elementary supporting classroom teachers in grades PK-5.

  • This is my second  year at Dozier Elementary.
