Sharing "Great Moments at Dozier Elementary"

Dozier Elementary administrators, faculty and staff members decided to go a different route with their annual fundraiser this fall. The Erath elementary school made the decision to have a raffle sale as their fall project with prizes from a local supermarket in Erath. Students began selling tickets on September 27th and turned in books (on or before) Friday, October 15th. A drawing for prizes was held on October 25th. The raffle sale prizes included a shopping spree and gift cards from Champagne’s Supermarket in Erath.

On the October 25th drawing, the Dozier Elementary Raffle prize winners were named. The 1st place winner was Chris Bergeron who won a 90 second shopping spree at Champagne’s Supermarket and $150 gift card. The shopping spree was held on Thursday, November 4th.  The 2nd place winner was Linda Petry who won a $500 gift card to Champagne’s while the 3rd place winner, Ray Bourque received a $250 gift card to Champagne’s.

The school rewarded top selling students and classes. The top seller for the school was 3rd grader Javien Delasbour, who is in Melanie Alleman’s classroom. He received a $50 check from Mrs. Toups. The ten top sellers will be treated to an off campus lunch and movie at the Grand. Ice cream parties are being planned for the top grade level classes. The winning classes were: Pre K-Mrs. Ashlie Landry; Kindergarten-Ms. Cecile Dubois; 1st Grade-Rachel Romero; 2nd grade-Suzette Stutes; 3rd grade Melanie Alleman; 4th grade-Lori Porter and in 5th grade-Jill Viator.

Principal Karla Toups stated “As with most schools, the parents and students play a vital role in productive fundraisers and we are extremely grateful for the community support Dozier has.” Toups also noted “how appreciative the school is having volunteers to assist bookkeeper Patty Broussard with the preparation and collection process before, during and after the fundraiser. Parents, as well as retired teachers were on hand to assist our school. Working as a team is the ground floor for the success of school wide projects such as this. Dozier certainly appreciates everyone who helped us with our most successful fundraiser ever!”

The money raised will be used for instructional materials, operating expenses, motivational incentives and expenditures not funded through other sources.

(Note: The 10 top selling students are not listed yet. We plan to take a photo of their trip later.) Once online permission slips are returned, we will post a photo of the group on the Dozier site.)
