Dozier Elementary School News

The Dozier Elementary Administration wants to offer a heartfelt thank you to the school’s faculty and staff who went above and beyond for the safety of all our students on November 19, 2010. Our school motto has been “We Care” for two decades now. Those two small words coupled professionalism and unity were all evident in our staff during a recent crisis involving Dozier Elementary.

I personally want to offer my appreciation to the Erath Police Department, Erath Fire Department, Emergency Responders, LA State Police, Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Erath Middle and Erath High School (leaders and staff members), civic leaders, Vermilion Parish School Leaders, bus drivers, parents, family members, the wonderful community of Erath and all who offered extensive help during November 19th’s events involving the pipe line crisis near our school. Of course, our first and foremost goal was to immediately transport our children to safety, which we were able to accomplish with the help of a caring community and truly dedicated workers.

Also worthy of a words of appreciation are our students. Despite the circumstances, each truly modeled positive behavior and patience throughout this ordeal. I commend and thank the entire student body who made our jobs easier during this trying experience.

Ironically, this incident occurred the day before Thanksgiving break began, which brings to mind  how truly “thankful” I am to work in a school and community so willing to offer helping hands beyond the call of duty to keep our little ones safe!

With a heartfelt sense of gratitude, I sincerely offer my deepest appreciation for the assistance graciously offered during this daunting task.

Yours in Education,

Karla Toups
