Twenty years ago, the  National Education Association (NEA) decided to do something BIG to get kids excited about reading. The celebration is called NEA’s Read Across America. It helps promote reading and it also celebrates it to honor Dr. Seuss annually.  The "Read Across America" Program is one of the largest across the nation.

This year, Dozier Elementary opted to celebrate their "Read Across America" day showing their "groovy styles" in various ways.  On March 2nd, the school used the day to include sharing Author Eric Litwin’s new book, “Groovy Joe Ice Cream & Dinosaurs" and "Dancing The Groovy Dance!"  Litwin was a special guest at Dozier Elementary last year after the school won a nation wide video contest.

Students and faculty members joined in the fun by dressing in their best groovy attire.

Special readers were invited to read to students and other activities were enjoyed by the students. The students met on the library and were able to dance to a Eric Litwin's "Groovy Dance" video, too! (See Litwin's video here!)
