Dozier Elementary's Parent Site

Students may purchase treats at our concession stand. Beginning September 1st all items will be sold for 75 cents. This is a way for our school to raise funds for instructional materials, operating expenses, motivational incentives for staff and students, and other expenditures that are not funded through other sources.

1)  Remember to notify your child’s teacher in writing if there is a change in the way he or she is to go home.   Parent calls to the office should be held to a minimum.

2) Check in the office if you have a conference scheduled or need to speak with a teacher.

3)  If your child is late for school, they must be signed in at the office. Likewise, if your child is checked out before the end of the day please come to the office to do this.  An excuse is needed for this late arrival and early dismissal.

Dozier has many materials for parents to assist their child at home.  Parents can come to school and check out these supplies.  Some of the supplies include books with cd’s,  sight word tactile cards, sight word memory match games, reading and math games, flash cards, solve and check math sliders, and comprehension cards.  Please take the time to come see what we have to offer. Check out our link here!

Dozier Spirit shirts may be worn on Fridays with their

uniform bottoms or with blue jeans on designated

days.  Spirit shirts are sold in the office.

On designated blue jean days each month, your child will be able to wear blue jeans for a $1 donation. The money raised will be used for incentives for PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Support), instructional materials, general operating expense, and any other expenditure not funded through other sources.  The blue jean must be long. (capris, crops, or shorts are not allowed)  Jeans with holes are not allowed.  Jeans cannot be worn lower than the top of the hipbone.  Slabbing is prohibited.   Only inset pockets are allowed. No pockets are allowed on legs.  Belts must be worn for students in grades 1-4.

I ask your cooperation in the matter of pupil attendance.  Our teachers are anxious to have all the children benefit from the lessons they have prepared.  It is difficult to have pupils make up work when they are absent frequently.

We urge all parents to keep pupils at home only when it is necessary for health reasons.  While we do not want pupils to attend school when they are ill, we do want them to come to school on all other school days.  Vermilion Parish School board policy states students cannot miss more than 12 days for the school year.

Any time your child is absent from school, comes in late, or leaves early you must provide a doctor’s excuse or a parent excuse to the teacher within 3 days.  Excuses returned after the 3 days are unexcused.   Louisiana law provides that the parent or guardian of any child who is absent or tardy (unexcused) more than 5 times in a school semester may be prosecuted in a court of law. (Act 745 of 2008)

Students who walk home or ride a bike must have written permission to do so from the guardian or parent.

If your child is a car rider in the afternoon please place your Car Rider Sign on the dashboard of your car so we can identify who you are picking up.  Contact the school if you are in need of a sign.

Community Coffee/Box Tops

We will be collecting Community Coffee labels and box top labels.  We will use this money to beautify our campus, purchase equipment for the playground, and fund other expenditures not funded through other sources.   “Cash from Trash” really works!  Please continue to help us with this easy fundraiser.
