Broussard Named Erath High Teacher of the Year

On November 19, 2014, Erath High Principal Marc Turner  announced that Laurie Latiolais Broussard  was  named the schoolís 2015-16 Teacher of the Year.  (Note: The Parish Teacher of the Year competition is a year ahead, making her eligible for the 2015-2016 competition.)

Broussard received her Bachelor of Science in Secondary English Education with a minor in Secondary Social Studies Education from ULL in December 1999. In 2011 she received her Masterís Degree in Gifted Education from ULL.

She began her career in Lafayette Parish teaching 6th grade for one year at Carencro Middle School. Broussard then moved to Kaplan High where she taught English and Psychology from 2000 until 2012. She transferred to Erath High in 2012.

During the 2010-2011 school year, Broussard was the Kaplan High and Vermilion Parish High School Teacher of the Year. At that time Broussard shared this on her page. "I sincerely feel that teaching is an honor. As teachers, my peers and I hold the future of the world in our hands. The future is present in our classrooms every single day. Teachers educate the students who will be the leaders and thinkers of the future."

The next level of competition for the Erath High teacher will now be at the parish level.

Laurie Broussard  married to Jason Broussard and together they have two sons, Lawson and Janson.  She is the daughter of John and Tee Latiolais of Carencro, Louisiana
