Broadway Street Then and Now
photos are taken on the corner of
Broadway and East Edwards. Photographers
stood on the on the corner near the
front of what is now the Acadian Museum.
Top Photo is an Ag Fair Parade in the
50ís. In this photo the buildings are:
(left to right) Mrs. Esperaís
(Broussard) Dept Store, Pichotís Ice
House, Pichotís store, then Capís
Confectionary (which was the ďteen hot
spotĒ in the 40ís and 50ís).
The actual Capís in the top photo was
located basically where the current Bank
of Erath parking lot is now. Capís
closed and then that white ďCapís
buildingĒ was moved to the corner of
Broadway and Bourque street and was our
town library building until the current
one (on Edwards) was opened.
Bottom picture is the same view as of
September 1, 2010.
