The trio will be honored Thursday, September 29, 2016 at 7:00 PM at the Erath Community Center. It is free and the public is invited to the special event! First is Mike Mouton a 1972 Erath High Graduate who played basketball at EHS. Mike made All District in Basketball both his Jr. and Sr. year. The group's second choice is Sarah Touchet Alpough, a 1989 Erath High graduate who made All District in both basketball and track all four years of high school. The third is Mr. Weston J Stoute, Sr. who is being inducted posthumously in to the Hall of Fame. Mr. Weston was active in youth sports for many years, but his greatest contribution was the filming of EHS Football games for twelve years.

Mike Mouton

Mike Mouton is a 1972 graduate of Erath High School.  While a student at Erath High, he was a member of the basketball team.

Mouton began learning the basic basketball skills in elementary school under the direction of Mr. Nodily Faulk.  Mr. Faulk would put folding chairs in an X fashion to teach and refine his dribbling skills.  As an eighth grader, Mouton had reached a height of 6'0" and eventually grew to 6'3" by his senior year.  M.C. Trahan and Jimmie Vice coached him in high school and encouraged him to participate in basketball only and no other sport.

Mouton was first team all-district in basketball in both his junior and senior year at Erath High.  As a junior he averaged 16.7 points per game and 13.6 rebounds.  He averaged 20.5 points per game and 16.1 rebounds during his senior year.  He is the only Erath High School graduate to score more than 40 points in a game twice in a career.  Mouton scored 49 points in his junior year in a game against Maurice High, which set an individual single game record.  During that same game, he made 21 of 31 field goals.  He also holds the single season record at Erath High of 218 field goals.

Mouton is the son of Lee and Lelia Decoux Mouton.  In 1973, he married the former Connie Romero.  She passed away in 1990 at the age of 36.  They had two daughters, Dana Mouton Frederick (a 2014 Hall of Fame inductee) and Tricia Mouton.  Dana is married to Andy Frederick and they have 3 children, Anne Marie, Luke and Coy.

He married Stephanie Bagwell in 1994 and they have two daughters, Bridget and Bethany.  Mouton enlisted in the Army National Guard during his senior year and served six years.  Mouton worked for Cities Service/ Nexen from 1976 until his retirement in 2013.

Sarah Touchet Alpough

Sarah Touchet Alpough is a 1989 graduate of Erath High School.  As a student, she was a standout member of the basketball and track teams.

Touchet Alpough started playing basketball as a student at Erath Elementary School.  She played for Shelby Cormier, who volunteered his time as a coach at the school.  Under his guidance, she played both basketball and softball.

Erath High and Erath Elementary were led by one principal at that time.  Because of this, elementary students were allowed to play on the high school team.  At 511, she was a welcomed addition to the basketball team.  Under Coach Mike Guilbeaux, she was the sixth player off the bench when she began to perfect her skills.  She became a starter on the high school team as an 8th grader and grew another inch over the next four years.  As a freshman, Touchet Alpough was voted team captain.  She continued to excel at basketball, and made the all-district team all four years of her high school career.

Touchet Alpough was a standout member of the track team at Erath High.  She was selected for the all-district team for track all four year of high school.  At the end of her junior year in basketball, she tore her right shoulder and needed surgery.  Always a competitor, she could not accept the idea of not competing in track.  She began training to learn to throw the shot put with her other arm.  Now throwing the shot put left handed, she placed first at the parish meet and district meet, and went on to place third at the state meet.  She still holds the record at Erath High in the shot put, with a distance of 373 that was set in 1987.

Touchet Alpough graduated from the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now UL Lafayette) with a degree in Criminal Justice.  She worked as Job Coordinator for Lafayette Community Correctional Center from 1994-1997.  She has been employed by the City of Abbeville as Utility Specialist since 1997.  She also is a referee for basketball and volleyball.

Sarah was born Sept 24, 1971 in Abbeville to Alfred Lee, Sr. of Abbeville and Mary Touchet DeBarge of Kaplan.  She married Lionel Alpough, Sr. on October 29, 2005.  They reside in Abbeville.  They have 3 children, John Touchet of Abbeville, Autumn Touchet of Maurice and Taylor Alpough of Abbeville.   They also have two grandchildren; Layla Touchet and Jhi Cottrell.

Weston J. Stoute, Sr.

Weston J. Stoute, Sr. is being inducted into the Erath High School Athletic Hall of Fame as an honorary member.

In 1960, Coach Robert Segura approached Mr. Stoute.  Segura knew Stoute was an amateur photographer and asked if he would begin filming Erath High School football games.  After meeting with head football Coach Willie Lutgring, he began filming the games.  He continued filming the games for the next 12 years.  He began filming the games using an 8mm home camera.  A few years later, he upgraded to a 35mm camera, which was a big improvement over the 8mm camera.

Stoute was an active member of the Erath community.  He served in the Army during World War II.  Upon returning from the war, he became a member of the Moss-Derouen American Legion Post 279 in Erath.  He also coached the youth of the community as a coach with Erath Little League and was member of the Erath Volunteer Fire Department for many years.  Stoute worked for the Unites States Postal Service for over 20 years.

Stoute was born on August 6, 1926 to Elie and Theola Toups Stoute.  He was married the former Gloria Broussard.  They had three children:  Weston J Stoute, Jr., Yvette Stoute Cornner and Mike Stoute.

He was the grandfather of six: Weston J. Stoute III, Brandon K. Stoute, Kelli Stoute Dartez, Shawn M. Corner, Joshua J. Corner, and Jacob P. Corner.  He would be the great-grandfather of 13.

Stoute is being inducted into the Hall of Fame posthumously.  He died September 13, 1982.
