Congratulations to Ms. Kristin Moore who was selected as Eaton Park Elementary 2013-2014 Teacher of the Year. She is a 2000 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School in Portland, Oregon and a 2004 graduate of Grambling State University. She continued her education by receiving a Masterís Degree from ULL in Educational Leadership. Ms. Moore began teaching 4th grade math in August 2004 at Carver Elementary School in Monroe, LA. Her career in Vermilion Parish began in 2007 at Herod Elementary School, where she taught 4th grade for one year before coming to Eaton Park. She is currently in her 9th year of teaching with 5th years at Eaton Park where she also teaches 4th grade math. Ms. Moore was asked a couple of questions:

Why do you love teaching?
Moore: I love teaching because I enjoy watching kids grow academically and socially. In the words of a great poet, education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire. I do my best to light that fire every day in my classroom, as do many other fine educators in our state.

Why do I stay at EPE?
Moore: It's simple.......I want to help educate, mentor, and nurture students who remind me of me when I was young.

Ms. Kristin Moore is married to Larry Moore Jr. and has two children, Braylon and Koryn. She is the granddaughter of the late Memphis and Gladys Mouton of Kaplan. Eaton Park Elementary is very proud to have Ms. Moore as part of the Eaton Park Elementary family. Her dedication and love for teaching is evident in her studentís academic success.
