On Monday January 7, 2012, the Gueydan FFA Parliamentary Procedures team attended their area contest held at UL Lafayette. The team competed against nine other teams representing south west Louisiana as well as their districts. The team finished 3 rd overall on the area level and previously finished 1 st in district. Their FFA advisor, Mrs. Rena Bertrand said she could not be more proud of the accomplishment this team exhibited throughout this competition. This is the first contest winning under Bertrand. The purpose of this competition is to encourage students to learn to effectively participate in a business meeting and to assist in the development of their leadership skills. Members are motivated to participate in discussions in a systematic and democratic manner through a study of parliamentary procedure . This experience helps students develop team working skills with their peers as well as team critical thinking skills during the mock meeting presented to a panel of judges. The team members are Luke Bertrand, Kaneon Dupuis, Lance Gaspard, Gabriel Hebert, Mason Reed, and Lucas Vedalier.
