James A. Herod Elementary School Library "The place where little wildcats read!" |
Welcome
to the Herod Elementary Library!
The home of 8,000 books.
Accelerated Reader Program
Approximately half of our collection of books are Accelerated Readers. Accelerated Reader (A.R.) is a reading program that provides books with a reading level and point value. Students in grades 2-5 check out and read books on their level after being STAR tested.. Students in K and 1 are introduced to reading and read basic books when the time is right. Students take tests on the books they have read via computer and accumulate points as they do so. At Herod readers are rewarded three times during the school year for accumulated points at A.R. parties.
