Jena Gaspard Kindergarten

I chose to teach because a teacherís profession is so rewarding and everlasting.  As a teacher, I have a huge responsibility to my students.  It is my job to encourage, motivate, and teach my students to reach their fullest potential.  It always amazes me when we reach the end of the year and see the growth my students have made both academically and emotionally.  Teaching is filled with ups and downs.  However, it is filled even more with lots of hugs and little ones that say I love you all day long.  Nothing can replace the rewards of being a teacher!

  • I graduated from North Vermilion High School in 2002.  Next I went on to college and graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2006 with a degree in Elementary Education and a certification in Early Childhood Education.  Then I went on to McNeese State University and graduated with my Masters degree in Educational Leadership in 2010.

  • I began my teaching career in August 2006 at Eaton Park Elementary.  There, I taught for 5 years in First grade.  I then transferred to Indian Bayou Elementary in 2011 teaching Kindergarten, where I continue to teach in this position today.

  • 2014-2015 Teacher of the Year at Indian Bayou Elementary

  • I am married to Justin Gaspard.  We have 4 children named Cole, Laykin, Rhett and Lacie.
