Kaplan High School science teacher, Patrice Mire, was awarded a grant in excess of $50,000. The grant entitled Expectations and Technology to Promote Science Studentsí Achievement will target students enrolled in Biology II, chemistry, and physics. The money will be used to purchase new computers, software, models, microscopes, and various other materials that will enhance the ability of students to apply mathematics problem-solving skills into the science curriculum, as well as strengthen their ability to interpret data and the think critically. The grant was written with the help of Roland Pautz, Vermilion Parish Science Supervisor.
