Randy Schexnayder

Mr. Randy Schexnayder graduated from Kaplan High School in 1974.  He received his B.S. degree (1979) in Health and Physical Education and also certified in Mathematics.  He then received his Masters of Education (1981) and Education Specialist (1986) degrees from McNeese State University.  Mr. Schexnayder is currently teaching mathematics at Kaplan High School. This is Mr. Schexnayder’s thirty-seventh year as an educator with eight years as a teacher coach at Kaplan High School, three years as Assistant Principal at Henry High School, four years as principal at Indian Bayou School, three years as principal at Kaplan High School, seven years as principal at Abbeville High School, four years as Assistant Superintendent, and six years as Superintendent of the Vermilion Parish School System from which he retired in August of 2013.  While a principal, he served on the Acadiana Principals’ Association Executive Committee for eight years, and for two of those years he served as president of the association.  For seven years, he was a member of the State Executive Committee for the Louisiana Principals’ Association.  For three years, he served as State Coordinator for the National Association of Secondary School Principals and also served on the National Nominating Committee for the NASSP as Louisiana’s only voting delegate.  He also served two years as the six state region (Region 8) chairperson of the NASSP state coordinators.  As superintendent, he served as chairperson of the Southwest Louisiana Superintendents’ Association for one year.

Personal

 

  • He is married to the former Judy Boudreaux from Lafayette, and they have three children; Jacob(married to Aimee), Scott (married to Dawn), and Lauren(sophomore at Northwestern State University).  He has two grandsons Jay (1 yrs old) and Christian(born this past May)

  • Mr. Schexnayder loves to go camping, fishing, and loves to do projects around the home.

  • Mr. Schexnayder chose to teach, even though he is retired, because he always enjoyed teaching high school mathematics to students and watching them grow and becoming more proficient in math.  After 27 years as an administrator, he is extremely happy to be back in the classroom working with the students.
