Fluency Page

Mrs. Katie's Homepage Fluency is when reading becomes smooth, effortless, and includes expression.  Fluency helps student comprehension.  If a student is struggling with decoding all of the words, it is very difficult for them to understand what they have read.  When a student can read fluently, they are able to spend their time thinking about story meaning instead of figuring out the words.  One of the simplest ways to build fluency is to do repeated readings.  Reading the same stories again and again provide students with a chance to remember the common words. Here are some activities that will help your child build fluency!
