PC Troubleshooting Tips:
  1. For PC make sure that the power switch in the back is turned   on. The switch is on when the line side of the switch is pressed in and the circle side is sticking out.
  2. Check to make sure that the computer is plugged in. Don't just look, make sure that the power cord is plugged in all the way into the power strip and that the power cord is pushed all the way into the back socket of the computer. On some PCs, make sure the connection between the computer and the cord is very tight.
  3. Check the Monitor power cord. For most computer monitors, the power button is on the front of the monitor below the screen. make sure that this switch is pressed in.
  4. Check that the power strip is turned on and plugged into the wall.
  5. Check that the wall socket is working by trying a light or other device that uses electricity. If the other device does not work, then ask a custodian to check the outlet.
  6. Try turning on the computer, by pressing the power button. On most PCs, the button with a circle on it with a vertical line through it on the top of the keyboard.

  1. Try the "End Task" key stroke, the Ctrl+Alt +Delete (All at the same time, only once.) This option will work if the mouse pointer will move around, but you can not click on anything to make the software work. If this works you will get a dialog box that shows a list of programs that are running in your computer's memory. Most likely it will state that the application that is frozen is "Not Responding". Click on that application to highlight it and click on the "End Task" button at the bottom of the window.
  2. If the first option does not work try pressing the the Ctrl+Alt +Delete Twice (All at the same time.). This should restart the computer.
  3. On some PCs you might have to press the restart button on the front of the computer.
  4. With PCs that do not have a restart button on the front, you might have to turn off and on the power switch on the back of the machine.
