Phonemic Awareness

"Being phonologically aware means  knowing ways in which oral language is divided into smaller components and is manipulated" (Chard & Dicken, 1999).

Phonemic awareness is being able to isolate, identify, categorize, blend, segment, delete, add, and substitute phonemes (sounds).
